After four rounds of qualifing Aaron sits in second place behind Dave Newcombe while Tyronne holds 5th place, his car still suffering from an unknown gremlim.

Eliminations

Tyronne is to face John Barbagallo, Tyronne knows he needs a hole shot and that he does a .028 to a 069. but he is not in the race as he gets passed at half track with John running an incredible 7.04 sec pass.

Aaron is to face Dennis Whiting, Dennis has the holeshot Aaron runs him down with a time of 7.12 secs to advance to the semis

Aaron is up against John Barbagallo. Aaron knows he needs a big holeshot and does he produce the goods a .003 light to John's .07 light. Aaron is on a good pass. Aaron is forced to abort the run as he sees the oil pressure drop, the oil pump drive has come off the engine. John sails pass him for the win with another 7.04 sec pass and takes Tyronnes national record away from him
